When you delete a file, Windows operating system does not physically erase it from the hard drive. Instead, it only marks the space occupied by the file as being free/available and removes its entry from a file catalog. This means that if the space it previously occupied is not overwritten, the file can be recovered with a program like Easy Data Recovery.
This software has two methods of scanning your hard drives for deleted files: quick scan and full scan. The last method takes a significant amount of time to complete (eight minutes or less for 25 GB of data). Quick scanning is fast and effective. After it is complete, it shows all the files that have been deleted from the partition but it does not show data that has been overwritten. This can be regarded as a negative aspect by advanced users that would know what to do even with such files (they could recover some parts of that data). However, this is just a simple recovery tool, not intended for advanced operations.
A huge advantage of this application is that it can recover data from ZIP drives and memory sticks too. It works with NTFS and FAT32 file systems and it can even restore formatted drives. These are important qualities because many other similar programs work with just one type of file system, one type of drive and cannot recover formatted data.
In conclusion, for easy/simple data recovery, this is a well-made, effective tool that has zero functionality problems.
